Hope for Ghana’s third school, Lawrence’s School of Hope, opened its doors in March 2023, and is now the home of over 200 students from kindergarten to 6th grade. Children in the remote village of Sesime who previously learned under a tree and a temporary shed have now been provided a beautiful, modern kindergarten and primary school with 7 classrooms, a library and computer lab, clean water with a reverse osmosis purification machine, solar power, toilets and a sewage system.
Hope for Ghana’s most adventurous project to date has created a one-of-a-kind model school in a community desperate for a proper education for their children. We are very excited that in the near future we will add classrooms to support a junior high school on this campus.
This beautiful school is named in memory of my friend and mentor, Lawrence Owoputi. A fine, soft spoken gentleman with great humility, Lawrence’s words of wisdom and encouragement were heard loudly. He was a Pastor, a philanthropist, a leader in the community and educator who loved life, sought possibilities and opportunities for others, and whose impact on everyone around him remains palpable.
Hope for Ghana continues to rewrite history. One village at a time. Together let us change the village of Sesime forever and bring hope and opportunity to their children for generations to come.
