There were so many reasons to celebrate during my recent month long visit to Ghana, as Hope for Ghana continues to reach new heights and reaches more lives than ever.
Hope for Ghana’s third school that opened its doors a few months ago is now home to over 250 students from kindergarten to 6th grade who are starving for an education and celebrating jubilantly their new-found opportunity. Days after opening this school, we broke ground to begin work on our fourth school, and already our incredible team built the foundation and has the structure up to the roofing level.
Hope for Ghana continued to give the gift of life, selecting 3 more villages to provide access to clean, potable water. Drilling is ready to commence in the days ahead so that families no longer have to drink dirty water thanks to our benevolent donors.
The highlight of the trip was the unforgettable, emotional day celebrating the gift of health, as we officially handed over Brother’s Brother Foundation’s second shipment of desperately needed medical supplies that had arrived in Ghana’s port in April. Twelve maternity delivery tables, 18 hospital beds and mattresses, several surgical instrument trays, 7 medical carts and thousands of disposable medical supplies were waiting to change the landscape of healthcare delivery in Ghana. A King, Chiefs, members of Ghana Health Service, doctors and nurses gratefully received the 8200 pounds of medical supplies with sheer joy.
Clearing this 40’ container from Ghana’s port was probably the hardest project I’ve ever worked on in Ghana, but I was choked up with tears watching the joy that came from the long awaited arrival of Brother’s Brother Foundation’s gift. I couldn’t have said it any better than Senyo, our Vice President of Operations, as he beautifully reflected the gratitude and joy of Hope for Ghana and his people. “We are so grateful for this donation. You are transforming lives. You are changing the face of medical health in Ghana. You are transforming the whole of Ghana!”
The story emerging in Ghana is a powerful story of hope and opportunity, of joy and life. Hope for Ghana’s future is bursting with possibilities, and I thank you for being part of this life saving story. You allow us to dream big. You allow Ghanaians to dream big. Stay tuned on Friday for a very special life changing announcement! Ghana, big things await!
