We are thrilled to launch our most ambitious clean water initiative yet—one that will transform the lives of over 8,000 people in Jarigu and its surrounding villages. Thanks to the immense generosity of Brother’s Brother Foundation, this groundbreaking project in Ghana’s Northern Region will provide sustainable, year-round access to safe water.
Currently, the 3,000 residents of Jarigu and 5,000 more in neighboring communities rely on a dam that runs dry during the dry season. Even when water is available, it is dangerously polluted, shared with animals, and a source of widespread waterborne diseases.
To change this reality, we have begun the first phase: dredging and expanding the dam—making it deeper and wider to ensure it holds enough water all year round. This will create a more reliable water source for the entire community.
The second phase will focus on water treatment and protection. We will implement filtration and chlorination to ensure the water is safe for drinking. To prevent contamination, we will fence the dam to keep animals out while providing a separate drinking area for livestock. A designated, hygienic water-fetching point will also be established for the community.
This project is revolutionary for Jarigu and its neighboring villages. By securing a clean, sustainable water source, we are not just providing water—we are saving lives, improving health, and building a future of hope.
