It was a picture-perfect day at Manor Valley Golf Course for our Charity Golf Outing on Friday, as 66 golfers enjoyed 18 holes under gorgeous blue skies. On the ninth hole, golfers were entertained by Professional Long Driver, Scottie Pearman, ranked fourth in the world. At night over 150 friends filled the ballroom to celebrate Hope for Ghana’s mission, and enjoy an exciting auction, great food, friendship, and philanthropy.
Lisa Sylvester, Emmy Award-winning journalist and WPXI-TV news anchor, lit up the room with her warmth, elegance and heartfelt compassion, bringing Hope for Ghana’s event to a new level. Guest speaker Ozzy Samad, President of Brother’s Brother Foundation, inspired guests with his vision and humanitarian insight.
The highlight of the evening was a live virtual visit with Senyo, Vice President of Operations, who emotionally shared the impact of Hope for Ghana in the villages and in his own life. Senyo’s stirring message revealed the heart and soul of this young man. “I want to tell you about a philosophy that has blessed my life. That philosophy is that I have learned to give not because I have much, but because I understand how it feels to have nothing.” When asked the meaning of “hope” he said, “The word “hope” is the promise of a future, the belief that tomorrow will be better than today. It is the belief of a young child somewhere in a remote village that a great future awaits them and that their sufferings will become a thing of the past.”
Thanks to an outpouring of support from guests, sponsors and donors, Hope for Ghana’s charity event was an incredible success, raising $52,000. To everyone who was a part of this magnificent day, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing this life-saving mission with me and transforming the lives of Ghanaian children and families forever.
