Amidst lightning and rain storm, The Fifth Annual Hope for Ghana Charity Golf Outing was an electric celebration as 90 golfers played their hearts out on the beautiful green, and by dinner over 160 people from 7 states and 7 countries poured into Westwood Golf Club on Saturday July 17. The elegant dinner ballroom shined with the authentic warmth, humor, stories and energy of Emmy Award winning WTAE news anchor, Mike Clark, who brought Hope for Ghana’s event to a new level.
The beautiful music of harpist, Samara Egan, filled the ballroom, while live painter, Cody Sabol, mesmerized the audience with his 12 minute live finger paintings of Big Ben and the Pittsburgh Skyline.
The emotional highlight of the evening was a live virtual visit with Senyo, Hope for Ghana’s Ground Operations Assistant, from Ghana’s capital. He eloquently described the challenges in Ghana and the impact of Hope for Ghana in the villages and in his own life. His stirring final comment revealed the heart and soul of this young man. “I want to tell them about a philosophy that has blessed my life. That philosophy is that I have learned to give not because I have much, but because I understand how it feels to have nothing.”
Thanks to an outpouring of support from guests, sponsors and donors, Hope for Ghana’s charity event was an enormous success, raising $45,000. To everyone who was a part of this magnificent day I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing this life changing journey with me and transforming the lives of Ghanaian children and families forever.
