I’ve just returned from another incredible journey through Ghana with a heart overflowing with gratitude. I was constantly reminded that the work we are doing together is changing lives in ways that are immediate, powerful, and lasting.
This trip, water was flowing across Ghana. We had the incredible privilege of inaugurating clean water projects in 17 villages across 3 regions of Ghana. The joy was unforgettable. Families who, after years of walking long distances and relying on unsafe water, now have clean, safe water right in their communities.
From Pittsburgh to Ghana! Pine-Richland High School’s gift of clean water was received with abundant joy in the village of Kwalikrom. What an incredible connection across thousands of miles, and what a beautiful reminder of the difference young students can make in the lives of others.
And we’re not stopping. We visited and selected 5 more villages in desperate need of clean water and are excited to begin drilling in the coming weeks.
Work continues on our water dam project, one of the most ambitious water projects we have ever undertaken. After expanding the dam to provide reliable year-round water storage, we are now focused on the treatment phase so we can provide safe, clean drinking water to more than 10,000 people in Jarigu and surrounding communities.
And in the Northern Region, Benjamin’s School of Hope, our fifth school in Ghana, is nearly complete! What began as a dream is about to become a beautiful place of learning, opportunity, and hope. We are excited to inaugurate the school in November, with Benjamin’s family joining us in Ghana for the opening.
Senyo and I were also privileged to welcome two wonderful high school students from New York and Spain who experienced Ghana in a way few visitors ever do. They immersed themselves in Ghanaian culture, spent time in the villages, connected with children and families, experienced the extraordinary hospitality of the Ghanaian people, explored historic Cape Coast, and got a taste of life in Accra. They didn’t simply visit Ghana. They experienced its people, its culture, and its heart.
None of this happens without you. Thank you for believing in our mission and for making this work possible. There is still so much work ahead of us, but I return home more grateful and more inspired than ever.
